First Grade and Kindergarten students enjoyed a fun hands-on day at the Tokyo Toy Museum followed by a picnic at Shinjuku Park under the sakura trees.

The 2nd and 3rd Graders visited Ueno Zoo to explore animals from around the world and then continued their adventure at the National Museum of Nature and Science with interactive exhibits. Guided by their homeroom teachers, the students enjoyed a memorable day of discovery, laughter, and learning.

4th and 5th Graders embarked on a three-day trip to Hakone and nearby areas, joined by Mrs. Lee, Miss Bonson, and Mr. Large. Highlights included Fuji Safari Park, Shiraito Falls, Oishi Park, Oshino Hakkai, a Lake Kawaguchi cruise, and Hakone-en Aquarium, with plenty of fun, learning, and friendship along the way.

WICS Primary students showcased their persuasive speaking skills at a new venue, Tokyo Evangelical Lutheran Church, with younger grades performing group skits and older students delivering solo speeches. Fifth Graders swept the competition, with May, Emiliya, and Damin winning the top three trophies for their passionate presentations.

Through this year’s theme of “LIGHT”, students experimented with circuits, shadow puppets, flashlight games and learned about the human eye. They were reminded that Jesus is the true light and calls them to be a light too!

During this science learning journey at the Chiba City Science Museum on October 16th, our students had the opportunity to learn through a wide range of hands-on activities and interactive displays to enrich their scientific minds.

It was a beautiful autumn day on November 21st as our students engaged in various activities such as boating, cycling, handball, and Frisbee at Showa Kinen Park in Tachikawa. Students were able to explore the huge park and admire the beauty of God's creation throughout the event.

Students started the day with a special candlelight service followed by a fun-filled day of making pancakes, crafts, and listening to stories in their red and green pajamas.

During this special week, students learnt the true meaning of Christmas through well-thought messages, worship songs, and interactive activities organized by the school. The school was also beautified with Christmas-themed decorations.

This year’s Christmas concert was filled with worship and messages of Emmanuel (God with us) and the sweetness of trusting in Jesus, the one who loves us indeed!

During this full-house concert held at Japan Evangelical Lutheran Church, our schools Praise Team and teachers led attendees in Christmas Praise and worship unto our Lord Jesus Christ. Thereafter, the students put up several performances including choral singing, an original rap song, a guitar ensemble performance, and a live Christmas drama that pieced together all the other performances.

Students from 3rd to 5th Grade did an outstanding job giving heartfelt speeches on courage while the kindergarten to 2nd graders  performed entertaining skits on overcoming fear.

WICS celebrated a milestone anniversary by reflecting on God’s faithfulness over the last 10 years. Our new school anthem “Growing Together” was also launched on that day.

On January 5, faculty and staff gathered for a Professional Development Day focused on developing a growth mindset in teaching and learning. Through collaboration and reflection, teachers were encouraged to embrace growth, continuous improvement, and renewed commitment for the season ahead.

For this year’s rendition of the annual Bible memorization competition, our students were given the challenge of memorizing two bible chapters - James chapters 3 and 4 - for this competition. As they immersed themselves in the memorization of this passage, teachers were also able to guide them in understanding the passage better and applying the lessons in their lives.

The theme of the 2025-26 speech competition was “Hope in Action”. The method of presentation was different this year, with students, in groups, presenting their speeches through a TV News Broadcast. Students had a great time showcasing their creative ideas to the guests and the rest of the WICS community.

As our school is in Japan, a country with a higher-than-average rate of natural disasters, we are committed to ensuring that our staff and students are well-prepared for varying emergency situations. This year, we visited the Tokyo Rinkai Disaster Prevention Park and learnt much about how to be well-prepared for disasters such as earthquakes, and how to react when such situations occur. .

During this year’s Good Friday service in our school, our Principal and teachers shared the seven sayings of Jesus on the cross. Our WICS community also had a meaningful time of worshipping God through songs as well as reflecting on Christ’s finished work on the cross.

Primary students enjoyed a nice private bus ride to Chiba where they had fun exploring the many interactive floors at the museum.

April 15-17, 2026

From April 15th to 17th, all our G6 to G10 students went on a 3D2N school trip to Hiroshima and Miyajima. There were memorable experiences during this trip such as visiting the Hiroshima Atomic Bomb museum and sightseeing at the historic Miyajima island.
